Banners from synthetic materials are intended for outdoor or indoor use. They are made from tilt canvas coated in plastic, or lighter synthetic materials. Printing is either digital or involves the designs being glued together from special resilient foils. The edges are strengthened and normally also contain hanging rings.

Textile banners are made from polyester netting just as flags, or from stronger thickly woven polyester. The prints on the former are translucent due to the thinner and less dense material – the back side features a mirror image as with flags. On thickly woven polyester, prints are only partly translucent. Due to these properties, textile banners are more suitable for installation on various foundations: walls, fences... With the inclusion of an internal lining that prevents translucence, thickly woven polyester banners can be two-sided as well.
